The Halo Laser Treatment Difference

Why is the Halo Laser treatment the most talked about resurfacing treatment? Simply put – this one device can tackle a long list of aging concerns, and does so effectively without days and days of serious healing-time.

Here’s why the experts at H/K/B love using the Halo Laser device:

  • It’s the first fractionated laser to use both ablative and non-ablative technology – more about this later!
  • It improves the appearance of rough skin texture, wrinkles, and fine lines
  • Halo laser treatment helps correct sun damage, brown spots, dark pigmentation, uneven skin tone, and pore size.
  • It gives your skin a luminous glow – known in celebrity circles as “the Halo glow.”
  • Halo laser encourages collagen and elastin production to help you look younger.
  • It requires minimal downtime – most recover in 2 to 5 days, depending on the depth of treatment.
  • It can treat almost all skin tones, even darker skin tones not typically suitable for laser resurfacing.
How Does the Halo Laser Work?

The experts at H/K/B explain that Halo laser is the first hybrid-fractional laser that combines ablative, non-ablative, and fractional laser technologies to give you serious results without serious downtime.

Ablative lasers like C02 and Erbium are typically pretty intense –they remove the outer layers of skin (the epidermis) and stimulate collagen production in the lower layers (the dermis). Oftentimes, just one treatment can require a few weeks of downtime (anywhere from 4-6 weeks) as your face produces a new layer of outer skin, but the results are typically quite dramatic.

Non-ablative lasers are far less invasive and do not remove the outer layer of skin – instead, they bypass the epidermis to stimulate collagen growth in the lower layers of skin. They require little to no downtime but often require several treatments to get the best possible result.

Fractional lasers can be either ablative or non-ablative. They work by breaking up the laser wavelength into thousands of smaller wavelengths to target a fraction of the skin in a particular area. By creating tiny pathways in the skin while leaving surrounding tissues untouched, your skin is able to recover in a shorter amount of time.

The Halo laser treatment is a true breakthrough device in that it combines all of these technologies into one – it’s the first fractionated hybrid-laser that gives you the results of an ablative laser with the downtime of a non-ablative treatment. You don’t have to choose between a fast recovery with mediocre results and a long recovery with great results. With Halo laser, you can have both.

Am I a Halo Laser Candidate?

If you find yourself considering a handful of different aesthetic treatments to effectively reach your skin goals, then you may be a great candidate for Halo laser resurfacing. If you’re concerned about both superficial skin problems (like fine lines, wrinkles, and luminosity) and deeper concerns (such as uneven skin tone, acne scarring, and pigmentation), then the combination of ablative and non-ablative technologies could be exactly what your skin needs. Plus, if you don’t want to take weeks and weeks to recover, you can certainly benefit from Halo laser’s comparatively short recovery time.

Understanding Your Needs to Create Amazing Results

Once you age out of your 20s, you might start to see more fine lines and discolored spots that make your skin look tired and splotchy – or you might have texture issues from years of poor skin maintenance or struggles with acne. Even with all of these issues combined, you probably don’t need a serious cosmetic surgery – and you likely aren’t getting much help from even the strongest medical-grade creams and serums. But by dealing with dermal and epidermal issues simultaneously, the Halo laser treatment could be the ideal solution that gives you the results you’ve been searching for.

During your one-on-one consultation and skin evaluation, our expert providers will evaluate your current lifestyle as it relates to your skin:

  • How often are you in the sun?
  • What product and treatment regimens are you currently using?
  • What skin damage have you experienced, such as acne, hyperpigmentation, or scarring?

From there, they’ll dive into your personal skin goals, concerns, and your specific Halo laser treatment options.

About 30 to 45 minutes prior to your Halo laser, a topical numbing cream is applied to the skin to help you feel comfortable throughout your treatment. The laser hand-piece is passed over your skin to measure your face diameter and skin depth – this helps calculate the appropriate amount of energy to be infused into the skin for maximum effect. Once those settings are established, the Halo laser treatment will begin and may last anywhere from 20 to 60 minutes, depending on the type of treatment being delivered.

The Halo laser will pulsate heat energy deep into the skin, and you will feel a moderate to intense warming sensation throughout the area. This is improved by the use of a forced-air system that pumps cold air over your heated skin, allowing you to feel more comfortable throughout the duration of your Halo laser treatment.

The warm sensation may last in your skin for about 30 to 60 minutes after the Halo laser treatment. Your provider will give you detailed instructions on how to care for your skin at home, which may include cleansing, applying healing serums, or the use of topical moisturizers. During the next 2 to 5 days, you may also experience skin sensitivity, puffiness around the eyes, nose, and mouth, mild swelling overall, a pink-to-red coloration, and mild peeling and flaking. Some areas, especially those where you may have had sun damage, may turn brown and slough off during daily cleansing.

  • Your skin will continue to improve over time, but you can apply makeup after the first 24 hours.
  • Most people can return to normal daily activities between day 4 and 7
  • You’ll start to see results between 2 and 5 days, but your skin will continue to improve over the next few weeks.
  • Most patients see the greatest improvement in 2-3 weeks.
  • You’ll experience a skin regeneration phase that continues to improve the appearance, tone, and texture of your skin for months afterward

Even though we’re continually aging and battling against external factors like sun exposure and free radicals, your Halo laser results can last for many years to come. Just be sure to maintain your skin health with a proper product regimen that includes the use of a broad-spectrum UVA / UVB sunscreen.
