Meet Dr. Wood

Jeyhan Wood, M.D.
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
Chapel Hill, NC

Working at an academic institution for the past decade has afforded Dr. Wood the unique experience of collaborating with surgeons from all specialties, addressing both reconstructive and aesthetic needs encompassing the entire body. Because of this, she has been exposed to the entire breadth of plastic surgery.  Born and raised in Texas, she completed her undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas then earned her MD with High Honors from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. Dr. Wood and her husband relocated to beautiful NC after medical school, where she completed her 6-year integrated plastic surgery training at Wake Forest Baptist Health, receiving a comprehensive education in all facets of plastic surgery including oncologic reconstruction, pediatric plastic surgery, and aesthetic surgery.

Dr. Wood further refined her training with a one-year craniofacial fellowship at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She was an active faculty member at UNC since that time, serving as the residency program director for 5 years. She has won numerous teaching awards, the UNC Health Care and Faculty Physicians Award for Carolina Care Excellence in 2016 and 2017, and the Castle Connolly’s Exceptional Women in Medicine Award in 2019 and 2023. She has numerous publications and has given talks at local, regional, national and even international meetings. She has mentored innumerable undergraduate students, medical students, and residents, several of whom who have gone on to run their own successful aesthetic practices.

For the past 10 years, Dr. Wood has dedicated her professional life to restoring form and function to both children and adults with congenital and acquired differences. These surgeries require artistry, attention to detail and precision. She is now excited to put forth that same passion and dedication to providing quality, individualized care to helping her patients realize their aesthetic goals.

Additionally, Dr. Wood has always had an enthusiasm for international mission work, stemming from her opportunity to provide breast reconstruction in Inner Mongolia during her residency training. She continues to travel yearly to the Dominican Republic as a member of MACLA (Medical Aid for Children of Latin America) for cleft lip/palate reconstruction, congenital ear reconstruction, and burn reconstruction.
