tummy tuck and breast liftCosmetic surgery can enhance your physical appearance and bolster your emotional wellbeing. The question is, which type of Charlotte cosmetic surgery do you need to achieve your aesthetic goals? While some patients come to HKB Cosmetic Surgery with a pretty clear idea of what they want, other patients are less sure. Often, these patients are wavering between two or three different options, wondering which will help them achieve their desired outcomes. Read here about Tummy Tuck & Breast Lift: Multiple Cosmetic Procedures at the Same Time.

This is what makes a surgical consultation so important. When you sit down with one of our board-certified and award-wining cosmetic surgeons, it gives us a chance to hear about your goals and talk with you about some of the options. In some situations, we may actually recommend that you consider getting multiple cosmetic procedures at the same time.

To be clear, there are both pros and cons to getting multiple cosmetic procedures at the same
time. But for many of our patients, we think it’s the most straightforward, convenient, and cost-
effective way to end up with the body you’ve always wanted. This is especially true when you
elect for complementing procedures, such as a tummy tuck and breast lift.

At HKB Cosmetic Surgery, we provide each patient with tailor-made solutions; to that end, we’d
love to get to know you and to fill you in on the kinds of surgical procedures that we think are
right for you. In the meantime, here is a quick guide to getting multiple cosmetic procedures at
the same time, with particular focus on a “mommy makeover” (aka a tummy tuck and breast
lift).

Why Consider Multiple Cosmetic Procedures at the Same Time?

There are a number of reasons why patients might consider multiple procedures at once. First,
it can reduce the total recovery time. So instead of having to go through multiple recovery
periods for multiple surgeries, you can recover from each procedure simultaneously. Most
cosmetic procedures will require you to rest and recover for several days, in some cases a few
weeks; by combining your procedures, you can minimize the number of days you have to be off
your feet, home from work, etc.

Another reason to consider getting multiple procedures at the same time is that it can help you
cut costs. That’s because you only have to pay for the operating room once, and you only have
to pay for the anesthesiologist’s work once. Again, if you choose to have different surgeries on
different days, these costs will add up; choosing multiple same-day procedures can consolidate
expenses.

There can be emotional benefits to choosing multiple procedures on the same day, as well. We
hear from a number of patients who are eager to look and feel their best, but anxious about
revealing the results of their surgery to family and friends. By combining your surgeries into just
one day, you only have to worry about making the big reveal once.

With all of that said, there is one big downside to having multiple procedures at the same time.
Surgery can put a lot of strain on the body… and having multiple surgeries only compounds that
strain. If you’re concerned that you’re not in the best health or may have a hard time
recovering from multiple surgeries, we might recommend abstaining from combined
procedures. Of course, this is an important topic that our surgeons will talk with you about in
greater detail, ensuring you are fully qualified for a safe and effective procedure.

Choosing Complementary Procedures

One additional note: Some procedures just make sense together. That’s certainly the case with
the tummy tuck and breast lift… or, as we call it, the mommy makeover.

What is a mommy makeover, exactly? Simply put, this is how we describe combined surgical
procedures that are designed to help moms return to their pre-baby body. This can mean
eliminating stubborn fat along the abdomen, returning the breasts to their previous size and
shape, and beyond. The specifics of a mommy makeover can vary from patient to patient, and
in some cases may include body cosmetic surgery or  breast plastic surgery such as breast reduction or vaginal rejuvenation, and other procedures. The most common form of a mommy makeover, however, is to combine the tummy tuck and breast
lift.

Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift: Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck allows women to eliminate some of that stubborn flab and extra skin that has
accumulated around their midsection, particularly fat that diet and exercise can’t seem to
touch.

During a tummy tuck, your surgeon may also use liposuction to help remove as much extra fat
tissue as possible. With that said, the tummy tuck is also focused on removing excess skin, and
tightening the underlying muscle structures to make your tummy as tight, as flat, and as
aesthetically pleasing as possible. For moms who just can’t shake the post-pregnancy paunch, a
tummy tuck may be just the thing.

Tummy Tuck and Breast Lift: Breast Lift

Moms who want to remove their post-pregnancy flab may also be interested in restoring their
breasts to pre-baby shape. That’s why it often makes sense to have a tummy tuck and breast lift
at the same time.

In a breast lift, your surgeon will reposition the nipple and augment the shape of the breasts,
helping restore sagging or droopy breasts to a “perkier” appearance. Note that a breast lift
does not technically change the volume of the breasts, but in some cases, the repositioning can
cause them to look just a little smaller.

The tummy tuck and the breast lift are complementing procedures; for many women, both
procedures are necessary to achieve the desired cosmetic outcomes. But again, for tailored
surgical solutions, we recommend coming to meet with a surgeon at HKB Cosmetic Surgery.
