Microneedling

Over time, your face may start to exhibit signs of age, sun damage, or everyday wear-and-tear. For example, many of us have had the experience of looking in the mirror and being surprised at the wrinkles, fine lines, or other blemishes we see before us. If you’ve had this experience and wish to learn about non-surgical methods for recovering your youthful appearance, we’d invite you to learn more about microneedling. We’re pleased to offer microneedling facial treatments here at H/K/B Cosmetic Surgery.

Collagen induction therapy – better known as microneedling – is a non-invasive skin rejuvenating treatment that boosts collagen production in the skin. The treatment works to restore suppleness, improve texture, and plump up the skin without damaging the epidermis.

Microneedling stimulates collagen production by gently using a patented needling device (such as the RejuvePen® or SkinPen®) over the surface of the skin. The fine needles make microscopic channels, and these tiny punctures trigger the body’s natural healing response to produce more collagen. Completing a treatment boosts collagen production by up to 80%. The increased collagen thickens and rejuvenates the skin, making scars, age spots, enlarged pores, rough skin texture and hyperpigmentation less noticeable.

Microneedling, performed by an H/K/B Med Spa Aesthetician, is proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles and to help delay the signs of aging. Microneedling treatments are suitable for young and aged skin alike, and can help you achieve a more youthful, even, and refreshed appearance in just a few treatments.

The treatment also helps skin care products sink deeper into the skin. The result? Your day and night skin care regimen just got even more effective! In fact, lab tests show that skin serums become up to 1,000 times more effective after micro needling. The treatment opens up the pores so the product is absorbed more deeply, compared with untreated skin.

What to Expect?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that uses fine needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen and elastin production. The procedure is performed in-office and is customized to target concerns such as fine lines, acne scars, and overall skin texture. A topical numbing agent is typically applied to enhance comfort during treatment.

Following microneedling, your skin may appear red and feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn. This is a normal response and typically subsides within a day or two. As your skin heals, you’ll notice gradual improvements in texture and tone, with continued results developing over time. Your provider will guide you on how to care for your skin to optimize your outcome.

Recovery Time

Healing after microneedling is typically quick, with most patients returning to normal activities within 24–48 hours. Immediately following treatment, your skin may appear red and feel warm or slightly tight, similar to a mild sunburn. Some sensitivity and light flaking can occur as the skin begins its natural renewal process.

Over the next few days, it’s important to keep your skin hydrated and protected while avoiding harsh products and excessive sun exposure. Your provider will give you personalized aftercare instructions to support healing and enhance your results.
