Facelift Surgery in Charlotte, NC with H/K/B Cosmetic Surgery
LOOK FRESH, ENERGETIC, AND YOUNG FOR YOUR AGE
You’ve heard the comments about poor facelifts, but those are the only facelifts you actually notice. Thousands of women – and men – have seamless facelift procedures every day. They pass by your line of vision in person or in the media, and you never know about the best facelift surgeon behind the scenes.
All you know is that these people look fresh, energetic, and young for their respective ages. And all they had to do was make a smart decision when choosing their surgeon. In the experienced hands of our doctors, your facelift will look perfectly natural. It will be subtly dramatic… dramatically subtle. Our goal is comprehensive facial rejuvenation that fits your features, expressions, and lifestyle rather than changing who you are.
Think back to 10 years ago … now 15 years ago. Remember how you looked in the mirror? That is likely how you will look after a facelift at H/K/B Cosmetic Surgery. Before surgery, we’ll review your personalized facelift options, so your expectations, techniques, and recovery align with your goals. After your surgery, you can expect to look younger with naturally tighter skin on your face and neck. The procedure improves lines, wrinkles, folds, and sagging skin and muscle.
Facelifts are often performed in conjunction with a forehead/brow lift or eyelid surgery to further soften lines and wrinkles in the upper portion of the face, such as overhanging upper eyelids or bags under the eyes. When appropriate, we may recommend an eyebrow lift to brighten the upper third of the face and complete your facial rejuvenation.

Who Is a Candidate for Facelift?
A facelift is designed for people who see changes that skincare and injectables can no longer fully correct. You may notice jowling along the jawline, loose skin or banding in the neck, deepening folds around the mouth, and a “tired” or heavy appearance despite feeling well-rested. The good news is that a facelift can address all these concerns. Those considering facelift surgery should be generally healthy, at a stable weight, and non-smokers (or willing to stop before and after surgery). We’ll also assess hairline, skin quality, and bone structure to plan incision placement and the most appropriate facelift options for you.
You may be a good facelift candidate if you:
- Have noticeable jowls, neck laxity, or midface descent that bother you in photos or the mirror
- Want longer-lasting facial rejuvenation than non-surgical treatments alone can provide
- Understand that a facelift refreshes your look but doesn’t change your fundamental appearance
- Can take adequate time for recovery and follow post-operative instructions closely
- Are open to combining a facelift with an eyebrow lift or eyelid surgery if it will create better overall balance
What Are Facelift Benefits?
A facelift can restore a clearer jawline, smoother neck, and more lifted cheeks so you look like a well-rested version of yourself. Many patients notice they look better from every angle without appearing “overdone.” Clothes and collars often sit more cleanly around the neck, and makeup sits better on smoother contours. Because we reposition deeper support structures rather than simply pulling the skin, results age more gracefully and can anchor other facial rejuvenation procedures over time.
What Are the Facelift Types?
Not every face needs the same procedure. That’s why it’s important to explore the several facelift options which can be tailored to your anatomy, concerns, and downtime. Each type has slightly different recovery expectations:
- Mini facelift: Best for early jowling and mild laxity in the lower face. Incisions and dissection are more limited, so bruising and swelling are usually less. Many patients feel comfortable returning to social activities in about 7–10 days, with exercise added back gradually over 2–3 weeks. Ideal if you want a subtle refresh without the commitment of a full traditional facelift.
- SMAS facelift: Addresses moderate laxity by lifting and tightening the SMAS (the deeper support layer) and the skin. This improves midface, jawline, and upper-neck definition. Expect most bruising and swelling to improve over 10–14 days, with continued refinement for several weeks. Many patients resume desk work in 1–2 weeks and more vigorous activity at 4–6 weeks.
- Deep-plane facelift: Targets more advanced sagging and volume descent. By releasing and repositioning deeper facial layers as a single unit, it can restore youthful cheek contour and soften nasolabial folds with very natural movement. Recovery is similar in length to a SMAS facelift but may involve more initial swelling; social downtime is often 2–3 weeks, with visible results continuing to sharpen over several months.
- Neck lift / platysmaplasty: Focuses on the chin–neck angle, neck bands, and extra skin. When combined with a facelift, you can expect tighter, smoother neck contours that match your rejuvenated face. Recovery parallels your chosen facelift type, with additional support garments and specific instructions for head and neck positioning to protect the repair.
During your consultation, we’ll explain these facelift options in detail, including who each technique is best suited for, typical recovery timelines, and how they may be combined or modified for revision cases.
What Other Procedures Can Be Combined with a Facelift?
Because aging affects the entire face, combining treatments often creates the most harmonious facial rejuvenation. Common complementary procedures include:
- Eyebrow / brow lift: A brow lift elevates a heavy or low-set brow, softens deep forehead lines, and opens the eye area. When paired with a facelift, it helps the upper third of the face match the smoother, lifted lower face and neck, avoiding a “mismatch” between features.
- Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty): Upper and/or lower eyelid surgery removes excess skin, smooths puffiness or bags, and refines the lid–cheek transition. Combined with a facelift, it brightens the eyes and reduces a tired look so your entire face appears rested and alert.
- Fat transfer (fat grafting): Fat transfer uses your own purified fat to restore soft volume in the cheeks, temples, and other hollowed areas. Alongside a facelift, it can replace age-related deflation, so results look fuller, more youthful, and still very natural to the touch and in motion.
- Skin resurfacing (laser or chemical peel): Resurfacing improves fine lines, sun damage, and skin texture. When done at the right point in your healing, it polishes the “finish” of your facelift, enhancing tone and glow for a more uniform, refreshed complexion.
- Injectables (neuromodulators and fillers): Neuromodulators soften expression lines in the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes, while fillers can fine-tune small contours or restore subtle volume. Used after initial healing, injectables help maintain and enhance facelift results as part of a long-term facial rejuvenation plan.
What Can I Expect During A Facelift?
Facelift procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis or with an overnight stay at our fully accredited surgical facility on our beautiful campus, where our highly qualified nurses will pamper you. Our nurses are certified in advanced cardiac life support, which ensures the highest level of supervision, evaluation, and care should there ever be an emergency. Our advanced anesthesia providers remain in the operating room to monitor you during your surgery.
During the facelift surgery, the facial muscles are tightened, after which the skin is re-draped over the tighter muscle tissue. Your facelift will be highly customized based on how you wish to look. We will recommend the best techniques for your desired outcome and make as few incisions as possible in hidden locations. We’ll also review how your chosen facelift options affect incision pattern, operating time, and expected recovery so you know exactly what to expect.
What Can I Expect During a MACS Lift in SouthPark, NC?
Besides a full facelift, we offer our extremely popular MACS Lift procedure, which only takes 90 minutes and has a typical recovery of one week or less. There is no incision behind the ear, which is a fantastic improvement over traditional facelifts, as it leaves no visible scar. To improve the appearance of the neck along with the facelift, a procedure called Platysmaplasty is often performed. This procedure tightens and removes the “turkey-gobbler” bands on the neck.
This “neck lifting” procedure is frequently combined with a full facelift but can also be performed along with a MACS Lift. If you are receiving a “revision facelift” to correct a previous facelift, the procedure is sometimes more complex because there may be abnormal scarring from the first operation. We will answer all of your questions and tell you exactly what you can expect before, during, and after your facelift so that there are no surprises. Whether you choose a MACS lift, traditional facelift, or revision surgery, we will walk you through the specific steps, anticipated scars, and how each approach fits into your overall facial rejuvenation plan.

How to Prepare for Facelift Procedure?
Good preparation makes for a recovery smoother and more predictable results. Before surgery, we’ll review your medical history, medications, and any prior procedures. You may be asked to stop certain blood-thinning medicines and supplements, avoid smoking and nicotine, and limit alcohol.
We recommend arranging for help at home for the first few days, preparing a comfortable recovery space with extra pillows, and planning time away from strenuous work or social events. You’ll receive detailed written instructions about washing your hair, caring for your skin, and what to bring on surgery day. Our team is here to answer questions, so you feel calm and ready before your facelift.
How Long Does It Take to Recover from Facelift Surgery?
Depending on the type of facelift procedure you choose, the recovery time will vary from 1–2 weeks. There will be some bruising and swelling after a facelift, but these symptoms will fade as your face and neck heal. Pain and discomfort can be easily controlled with medication during your recovery period. Your head will likely be bandaged after the procedure, and you will need to keep your head elevated for the first few days. You should also avoid strenuous activities for about two weeks.
Of course, we will monitor your progress and answer any questions you have during your recovery period.
The longevity of a facelift is typically 7–9 years. Follow-up appointments, incision care, and gradual return to normal activity are all part of the plan we review with you in advance, so recovery feels structured and supported.
How to Maintain Facelift Results?
A facelift can restore your facial rejuvenation, and your daily choices help keep it looking fresh. Protecting your skin from the sun with broad-spectrum sunscreen, avoiding smoking, and maintaining a stable weight will help preserve your new contours. A customized skincare routine with medical-grade products can support texture and tone.
Over time, light, non-surgical treatments such as neuromodulators, fillers, or laser resurfacing can fine-tune expression lines and skin quality without the need for repeat surgery. We’ll partner with you to build a long-term facial rejuvenation plan, so your facelift results remain pristine for years.
