Thigh Lift with H/K/B Cosmetic Surgery

MAKE YOUR THIGHS LOOK TIGHTER AND FIRMER, GIVING THEM AN OVERALL MORE ATTRACTIVE SHAPE AND SIZE

For those with stubborn excess fat on the thighs, a thigh lift or thigh lift surgery and liposuction may be sufficient to restore a youthful contour. For others, there is skin laxity on the thighs, as well as excess fat. This is often the case after a significant loss of weight either from bariatric surgery or natural weight loss. If the skin laxity is substantial, it can be unsightly.

In a thigh lift, we remove the excess skin on the upper leg and also frequently perform liposuction at the same time to remove residual fat. The result is a trimmer, firmer thigh with a smooth, taut contour.

H/K/B surgeons have extensive experience performing thigh lifts (also known as thighplasty), along with other procedures commonly performed on patients who have experienced massive weight loss. What Can I Expect During Thigh Lift?

Your procedure can often be performed on an outpatient basis using general anesthesia and sedation at our fully accredited surgical facility on our beautiful campus, where our highly qualified nurses will pamper you. Our nurses are certified in advanced cardiac life support, which ensures the highest level of supervision, evaluation, and care in the unlikely event of an emergency. We also work with board-certified advanced anesthesia providers.

The incisions are placed in the groin area within the bikini line, where scars can remain hidden under clothing – even swimsuits. During a thigh lift surgery, the skin is pulled and tightened, and excess skin is removed. Liposuction is also performed to remove pockets of fat. The surgeon carefully reshapes the thighs in proportion to your body for an overall tighter and smoother appearance. For large volume sections, the scar is placed on the inner thigh from the groin crease to the knee to maximize the amount of skin to be removed while keeping the scar inconspicuous.

What Can a Thigh Lift Do for Me?

A thigh lift will make your thighs look tighter and firmer, giving them an overall more attractive shape and size. The surgery will remove excess skin and fat from the inner and/or outer thighs, reduce stretch marks, and smooth cellulite.

Cosmetic thighplasty or thigh lift is sometimes performed in conjunction with other procedures that are common after massive weight loss, such as a tummy tuck and/or Brazilian butt lift.

How Long Do Thigh Lift Results Last?

While fat can still accumulate, and skin laxity can recur, thigh lift results last for years in most patients. The best way to prolong your outcome is to keep your weight steady and exercise regularly.

Thigh Lift Surgery FAQs

A thigh lift can significantly reduce or even eliminate chafing, skin irritation, and discomfort caused by an excess amount of inner thigh skin. Many patients seeksa thigh lift specifically because of their loose, sagging, or overlapping skin that creates friction when walking, exercising, or warm weather. By removing this excess skin and tightening the thigh contours, the procedure helps create smoother inner thighs that rub much less and stay drier throughout the day.

Fortunately, yes, a thigh lift can noticeably improve the way your favorite shorts, pants, and skirts fit your body by creating a smoother, slimmer, more proportionate thigh contour. Many patients find that after having the excess thigh skin removed and tightened, their clothing fits more comfortably and even looks more flattering. The procedure is known for reducing bulk, sagging, and skin folds, so clothing often sits more naturally on the body without pulling, bunching, or riding up.

A thigh lift is especially effective for people who have experienced significant weight loss, whether through bariatric surgery or lifestyle changes. Major weight loss is often the primary culprit of loose and sagging skin on the inner and outer thighs that cannot be tightened with exercise alone. A thigh lift safety removes this excess skin, reshapes the thigh contours, and creates smoother contours that better reflect your weight loss success.

Yes, a thigh lift can be combined with liposuction and is one of the most effective ways to achieve more sculpted thigh contours. While a thigh lift removes the loose or sagging skin, liposuction will go in and target stubborn fat deposits that don’t respond to diet and exercise. When performed together, they can enhance each other’s results for more dramatic and longer-lasting results.

Thigh lift scars are permanent, but they typically become much less noticeable as they heal and mature. Because the procedure removes excess skin and tightens the thighs, incisions are placed strategically in areas that can be concealed for the most part. Over time, most patients see their scars fade significantly, flatten, and blend more naturally with their surrounding skin, especially with proper scar care.

An inner thigh lift and an outer thigh lift both tighten and reshape the thighs, but they target different areas, using differing incision patterns and addressing different types of skin laxity. Inner thigh lifts remove loose skin from the inner thighs and have incisions placed near the groin and along the inner thigh. Outer thigh lifts address laxity on the outer thighs, hips, and sometimes the buttock region. Outer thigh lifts focus on improving sagging and drooping on the outer leg and require incisions that extend around the hip for more dramatic lifting.

Thigh lift results are typically long-term, often lasting 10 years or more, especially when patients maintain a stable weight and healthy lifestyle. However, natural aging, gravity, and weight fluctuations can gradually affect the firmness of the thighs over time. Most patients enjoy smoother, tighter, and more sculpted thigh contours for many years after their surgery.

You can plan to get your thigh lift even if you still plan to lose more weight, but most surgeons recommend waiting until you are close to your goal weight to achieve the best, longest-lasting results. Continuing to lose weight after having a thigh lift may create new skin laxity, reduce firmness, or change the shape of your results. For patients who are still actively losing weight, it’s often best to reach your goals first so the surgeon can tailor the procedure to your final body shape.

After a thigh lift, patients need to avoid some activities to protect their incisions, reduce swelling, and support proper healing. While your surgeon will give you personalized guidance, most people are advised to temporarily avoid strenuous movement, high-impact exercise, and anything that puts tension on the thigh area. Limiting these activities will help prevent complications and ensure smoother results.

Yes, a thigh lift can be an excellent option for older patients, especially those experiencing age-related skin laxity, sagging, or loss of firmness in the inner or outer thighs. As long as the patient is in good overall health and cleared for surgery, age alone is not a barrier.

Choosing between a thigh lift and liposuction depends on whether your main concern is excess fat, loose skin, or a combination of both. Liposuction removes the stubborn fat deposits, but it doesn’t tighten sagging skin. A thigh lift, on the other hand, removes the excess skin and reshapes the thigh contour making it the better option for patients with skin laxity and stubborn fat deposits.

A thigh lift can improve the appearance of cellulite in some patients, but it is not considered a dedicated cellulite removal procedure. Because a thigh lift primarily focuses on removing excess skin, tightening tissues, and smoothing the contours of the thigh, many people notice that their cellulite looks less pronounced, less dimpled, and more even after surgery. However, cellulite is caused by fibrous bands beneath the skin, so results will vary depending on your skin quality, the type of cellulite you have, and the surgical technique used.

Most patients return to light, non-strenuous work about 10 to 14 days after a thigh lift, depending on the extent of their procedure and the physical demands of their job. Because a thigh lift involves tightening skin and reshaping the inner or outer thighs, your body needs time to reduce swelling, protect the incisions, and regain comfortable mobility. Jobs that require lots of standing, walking, lifting, or physical activity may need a longer wait period.
