Cindy Wu, M.D.
Double Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Wu is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with expertise in breast augmentation, reduction, and lift procedures, as well as implant removal revision surgery. She also specializes in abdominoplasty, liposuction, body contouring, fat grafting, and non-surgical injectable treatments.
Born in Taiwan and raised in Michigan, Dr. Wu earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and Art from the University of Chicago. She then completed her MD at Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. After a 5-year general surgery residency at the University of Chicago, Dr. Wu moved to Chapel Hill for a 3-year plastic surgery residency at the University of North Carolina. She is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Wu received additional aesthetic training during her Aesthetic Society endorsed 1-year fellowship with renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Jim Grotting in Birmingham, Alabama. She was an active faculty member at the University of North Carolina, performing a range of procedures including breast and body reconstruction, hand and facial surgery, and aesthetic surgery. Her academic achievements include the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award, service on the Residency Review Committee, and several research grants for her work on patient preferences and social media utilizing crowdsourcing.
With over a decade of experience in private practice, Dr. Wu brings her expertise to help patients achieve their aesthetic goals. She is an active member of professional organizations such as the Aesthetic Society, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Southeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, and North Carolina Society of Plastic Surgeons. Her work has been published in multiple symposia and training programs, including those utilizing virtual reality for surgical training.
